Edna (Emacs)

A dark, medium-contrast Emacs theme with muted comments inspired by the Edna color scheme.

Installation

Currently, edna-theme can only be downloaded here (hopefully I can get this added to MELPA at some point). In the mean time…

MELPA

Ensure MELPA is enabled:

(require 'package)
(add-to-list 'package-archives '("melpa" . "https://melpa.org/packages/") t)
(package-initialize)

Then install:

M-x package-refresh-contents
M-x package-install RET edna-theme RET

Enable the theme:

(load-theme 'edna t)
use-package
(use-package edna-theme
  :ensure t
  :config
  (load-theme 'edna t))

Doom Emacs

If not yet installed, add to ~/.doom.d/packages.el:

(package! edna-theme)

Add to ~/.doom.d/config.el:

(setq doom-theme 'edna)

Then run:

doom sync

Spacemacs

Add edna-theme to dotspacemacs-additional-packages:

(setq-default dotspacemacs-additional-packages '(edna-theme))

Then add the theme to dotspacemacs-themes:

(setq-default dotspacemacs-themes '(edna))

Manual installation (fallback)

git clone https://codeberg.org/golanv/edna-theme.git
cp edna-theme/edna-theme.el ~/.emacs.d/themes/
(add-to-list 'custom-theme-load-path "~/.emacs.d/themes/")
(load-theme 'edna t)

Terminal support

This theme is designed for GUI and truecolor terminals (24-bit color). It will look correct in terminals such as kitty, Alacritty, iTerm2, etc. If your terminal uses a custom 16-color palette (e.g., Konsole with a nonstandard scheme), the colors may differ.
